Upscale a Photo for an A4 Print
A4 is 210 by 297 millimetres. At 300 ppi that is about 2,480 by 3,508 pixels, close to a large 8×10 and hungry in the same way. The calculator speaks millimetres so you do not have to convert by hand.

A4
Millimetres, then pixels
Divide millimetres by 25.4 to get inches, then multiply by 300. 210 mm is about 8.27 inches, times 300 is about 2,480. 297 mm is about 11.69 inches, times 300 is about 3,508. Those are the numbers in the preset. If your photograph is already larger, stop. If it is a 2000-pixel phone export, you are short on the long side and 2× lands near 4,000, which clears A4. The free download will not let you keep that 4,000-pixel file. Pro or Studio will.
A4 is also a document size, and people drop screenshots onto it. A screenshot full of type is a bad upscale, because the model redraws glyphs. Put the photograph in the layout at its real size and retype the caption. If the photograph itself is short, upscale the photograph, not the whole page.
150 ppi on A4 is half the pixels on each edge, about 1,240 by 1,754. A free 3,200 px download covers that looser target. The 300 ppi sheet, about 3,508 on the long edge, does not. Say which target you mean. A poster on a wall and a page in a hand are different objects, and A4 is usually in the hand.
Same tool, metric paper
Nothing else about the product changes because the paper is ISO. Three guest repairs, no watermark on the preview, failed jobs uncharged, deletion at 24 hours, subscriptions cancellable and not refunded. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF. No HEIC. No colorize. Face restore only if you accept the likeness risk, on Pro.
Labs in different countries still print the pixels you send. A 300 ppi tag on a short file does not become A4 sharpness in transit. Run the calculator, run 2× if you are short, and download the paid file if the long edge has to clear roughly 3,500 pixels.
A4 in the hand
210 by 297 millimetres is about 2,480 by 3,508 pixels at 300 ppi. The preset types those millimetres for you. Change the pixel fields to your file and read the limiting edge. A 2,000-pixel export at 2× lands near 4,000 and clears the sheet if the picture survives. The free download does not keep that 4,000-pixel file. Half the pixels, about 150 ppi, is a looser sheet and and it fits inside the 3,200 px free download. The 300 ppi long edge, about 3,508, does not.
A4 is also a document. Do not upscale the caption. Retype it. Upscale the photograph if the photograph is short, then place it in the layout at a size the pixels support. A screenshot of a whole page, type and all, will come back with glyphs the model guessed. That is the screenshot page’s warning, and it is louder on paper than on a monitor.
Nothing about the license or the deletion changes because the paper is metric. Free pages show ads. Unmarked preview. Cancel anytime, fee not refunded, failed job uncharged, objects deleted at 24 hours. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF. Export HEIC first. If the frame might be an 8×10 instead, check that page too. The inch counts are neighbors, not duplicates.
What to keep beside the slider
A4 wants about 2,480 by 3,508 pixels at 300 ppi, from 210 by 297 millimetres. The preset holds the paper size. You type the pixels. A 2× of a 2,000-pixel export clears the sheet when the picture is honest, and the free download will not let you keep the 4,000-pixel result. 150 ppi halves the requirement and is still usually a hand-held page, so do not excuse a soft file with poster logic. Captions are type. Retype them. Upscale the photograph alone.
A4 and 8×10 are close enough that people print the wrong one. Check both calculators if the frame is undecided. Nothing else about the product becomes metric: Free pages show ads, unmarked preview, HEIC exported first, colorize as a separate guess, failed jobs free, subscriptions non-refundable, objects deleted at 24 hours. A page in a printed album is often one photograph that was already near 3,000 pixels and only needed the dust lifted. Measure before you assume the sheet is an enlargement.
The decision you can defend
About 2,480 by 3,508 pixels is A4 at 300 ppi. Type the pixels beside 210 by 297 millimetres and read the limiting edge. A 2× that clears the sheet still needs a paid download if you want the full file. Retype captions. Do not upscale the page chrome. A4 is usually in the hand, so poster excuses about viewing distance are the wrong standard. Check the 8×10 calculator too if the frame could be either size. They are neighbors, and the pixel counts are not the same. A document preset that turns the photograph into a photocopy is the wrong file for this paper.
Three steps on this file
01
Leave the unit on millimetres
The preset is 210 by 297. Type your pixel size beside it.
02
2× a short file
A 2,000-pixel edge becomes about 4,000, which clears A4 if the picture survives.
03
Download past the free cap
3,200 px is not an A4 master at 300 ppi.
Pixels for this paper
210×297 mm. About 2,480×3,508 pixels at 300 ppi. The calculator uses the size you type. It does not upload a photo.
Settings that matter here
- Do not upscale the caption.
- A4 and 8×10 are neighbors. Check both if the frame could be either.
- A3 is the size that usually forces 4×.
- Convert HEIC before the upload, not after a failed job.
Where this shows up
A page in a printed album
One photograph per page, already near 3,000 pixels, may need nothing but a denoise.
A small scan on a full page
Measure it. 4× is available when 2× leaves the long edge short.
Limits and formats
JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF decode on the server. HEIC from a phone needs to be exported to JPEG first. The preview is not watermarked. Guest and Free plan downloads are capped at 3,200 px on the long edge. Pro and Studio download the full file. Nothing on this site is an ad.
